This is a perfect description of the way Thor views Loki. Sometimes Thor is somewhat of a big stupid puppy, but he’s not stupid enough to trust the God of Lies, as much as he wishes he could. He just really, genuinely loves his brother too much to permanently give him up. Hence bringing him back after Asgard was destroyed.
